Abstract
The paper discusses the results obtained by the application of the roll forming technology on the production of a high precision metal motor housings.
In particular, it is explained a process that allows the production of the motor housing by the rolling of a sheet metal strip. The critical application described in this paper refers to a car starter motor.
Experimental results comparing the traditional progressive stamping process with the roll forming process are provided in order to demonstrate the advantages of this technology.
