Abstract
The main objective of the research presented in this paper is a proof of concept of a vehicle independent control strategy based around currently available state of the art climate control system components to supply air to the vehicle cabin at the correct temperature and humidity level whilst improving overall efficiency. To fulfill this requirement, the operation of state of the art in climate control system components and sensors was investigated. A generic vehicle independent control strategy was devised using fuzzy logic to effectively control the complex and non-linear system while maximizing the inherent efficiency improvement characteristics of the state of the art components and sensors. This paper provides an overview of the proposed system and a selection of test results.
