Molybdenum friction modifier is widely used to reduce friction in engine oil. On the other hand, low friction engine parts with DLC coating are studied to improve fuel efficiency. However Molybdenum friction modifier is not effective in DLC coating. New 5W-30 GF-4 fuel economy engine oil with ashless friction modifier is developed for engines with DLC- and/or non-DLC-coated valve lifter.
