Abstract
This study describes the development of a model for predicting footwear fit on the basis of user data. The model involved the design of a footwear classification system which grouped different types of footwear into classes on the basis of functional features.
Foot dimensions of a total of 316 female participants were measured with a 3D scanner and individual preferences regarding overall shoe fit were input into the system. Fitting trials were performed to determine subjective evaluations of the shoe classes.
The results show a mean accuracy of approximately 65.7% in the prediction of the fitting level using the statistical model.
