Abstract
This paper overviews the main features of an instruction level simulator, “Ecusim”, for the Freescale MPC500 series processors used at Ford Motor Company for electronic engine control. Besides the CPU, Ecusim simulates all on-chip devices and TPU microcode execution, as well off-chip devices typically used in a Ford engine control unit (ECU) with better than 10% chronometric accuracy. Several unusual and advanced analysis features are described.
