Abstract
This paper explores how quality and reliability assurance activities should contribute to product development process. Shortened product development time is forcing product developers to fulfill quality and reliability expectations ever more efficiently. The focus of this paper is on quality and reliability activities in early phases of product development. The author advocates a seven-step approach to streamlining them. An application example is used to show how quality and reliability tasks may be executed in a smooth, single-piece flow from the start of development through design verification.
