Integrated Rear-view Mirror for Driver Monitoring System

Abstract
Useful driver assistance system must provide drivers with information and warnings that adapt to driver conditions such as driver awareness level, attention level etc. We have developed a prototype rear-view mirror with a built-in CCD camera to monitor driver conditions. Described in this paper, are superior characteristics of the prototype rear-view mirror that can acquire the driver's face images under several environments and a method that detects driver's features used for the driver condition.
