Abstract
Lateral dynamic assistant systems are attracting more and more attention. Parking assistant and lane departure warning systems are examples of two valuable functions that are under investigation by several OEMs.
To enable these functions there are three main technologies: Electric Power Steering (EPS) with or without an energy storage technology, Hydraulic Power Steering (HPS) with an additional electric or hydraulic actuator and Closed Center Steering (CCS). In this paper, the different systems are presented and compared in a detailed rating matrix.
