Abstract
Knocking phenomena in gasoline engines are very dangerous events which can produce severe damages to the engine. The aim of the present work is to implement a real-time control system of the knock using soft-computing techniques to have a more accurate prediction of knock intensity. The control system detects the knocking presence using the cylinder pressure cycle and provides a knock intensity index; the engine ECU uses this information to remove the knocking phenomena modifying the spark advance.
