Abstract
In order to evaluate the applicability of biomass ethanol importuned from Brazil, fuel property evaluation, immersion test, emission test and evaporative emission test have been done. Ethanol raised reid vapor pressure of fuel about 6 kPa even at 3% mixing, so it needs to adjust reid vapor pressure by base gasoline. Immersion test showed that ethanol tends to corrode aluminum materials at 10% mixing and degrade the properties of rubber and resin. Ethanol addition in fuel hardly affected emission characteristics. Using E10 gasoline long term made evaporative emissions worsen because ethanol soaked in fuel pipeline has been evaporated.
