Abstract
To examine the possibility of the IDI CI engine with DME
low-pressure injection, the influences of the main-chamber
configuration and the compression ratio were investigated.
Consequently, high thermal efficiency was obtained in the low
compression ratio, because heat loss was able to be decreased. As
for this, it is possible that mixture formation and combustion
progressed rapidly, because the amount of the fuel which could be
trapped in the divided-chamber increased.
When an unburnt fuel flowed out from the divided-chamber to the
main-chamber, the main-chamber configuration of the IDI CI engine
influenced mixture formation in the main-chamber. At this time,
combustion ratio in the main-chamber was improved by installing the
cavity in the main-chamber. Hence, the operating range of IDI CI
engine with DME low-pressure injection was expanded.
