NVH Analysis of the Drivetrain~Possibilities and Limitations of Different Modelling Approaches

This paper shows the analysis methodology of drivetrain vibrations using the AVL simulation tools CRUISE, TYCON, and EXCITE. The tools' different modelling approaches allow both consideration of low frequency effects as well as investigations in the high frequency acoustic range. The basis for these investigations is a torsional approach applied to a front-transverse drivetrain. A gradual increase of the model complexity shows the additional consideration of specific effects in drivetrain components, respectively high frequency vibrations. Moreover the usage of flexible bodies also allows the determination of structure-borne noise and stresses in single components.
