Abstract
Recently, the vehicle interior sound level has been reduced drastically. So the whine noise, rattle noise and other kinds of annoying noise which were not so important before are getting more and more crucial in deciding NVH characteristics and good quality of vehicle. In traditional method, the rattle noise was evaluated by subjective evaluation rather than by objective analysis. We had to spend much time and cost on evaluating the rattle noise by auditory sense. Moreover, subjective evaluation may result in some error due to the fatigue phenomena of auditory sense. In this paper, we have modeled a rattle formula by considering the sound signal characteristics in time and frequency domain and proposed a rattle index which was verified by subjective rating
