Abstract
Standards are now being developed within the ISO Technical Committee on Intelligent Transport Systems (TC204) to standardize the architecture, data elements, and messages needed to support probe processing. Probe processing is the centralized fusion and analysis of sensor data from vehicles, used to create an accurate overall picture of the driving environment in combination with data from other sources. The standards effort described in this paper supports the ability for many different kinds of vehicles to contribute to probe processing and make use of its results.
