Abstract
Modern technologies allow innovative steps to optimize vehicle architectures, system behavior, maintenance and costs. The need for protecting aggregates, control units and wires has been solved by using more or less sophisticated fuse applications. In the meantime there are chances to provide automobile applications with electronic protective circuits, which allow highly sophisticated adaptable and maintenance-free protection strategies.
