Abstract
This paper presents a method to construct G1 continuous Bernstein-Bézier triangular surfaces from triangular mesh. The information about triangular mesh can obtain form CAD system interface, including vertexes and their normal vectors.
Based on analyzing the G1 continuity condition between two adjacent triangular Bézier patches and vertex consistency problem, the procedure of obtaining G1 continuous surface is proposed: the first step is construction of original surface according to the information from VRML file. The following step is degree elevation and Clough-Tocher division. Piecing patch together at external boundary and Piecing sub-patch together at internal boundary with G1 continuity is the last step and mainly discussed in the paper.
