Abstract
Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) was designed virtually by combining existing components such as engine, motor, and energy storage system. Fuel economy was affected substantially based on the size and constitution of those components. Additionally, it was changed by control methods employed in the use of those components. We have investigated the effect of these components efficiency on fuel economy for the conventional vehicles and the three types of HEVs. Evaluation results show that the effect of components efficiency on fuel economy depends on electric power of drive motor.
