Abstract
A new concept, load path U* analysis, is introduced to examine the stiffness of heavy-duty truck cab. This new method is used to find load paths from the cab mount to the upper structure. The role of each structural component can be discussed by using three desirable conditions of U*. We observe that input loading is mainly transferred through the front cross- member and the front pillar. A stiffened structure is discussed from the standpoint of the load transfer paths, and FEM calculation shows the effectiveness of stiffeners.
