Improvement for Cylindrical Origami Structure Using Reversed Spiral Model Usign Reversed Spiral Model

Some novel and quite unconventional structures have been designed in the past several years by using origami technique. A new type of can made by origami technique can be easily crushed after usage. Origami structure-based vehicle member is desirable to better protect human during automobile light collision or vehicle-pedestrian accidents. However, this structure's function especially external appearance is far from industrial requirements. Thus, in this research, subdivision surface method is used to improve the present structure. The crushing characteristic of new structure is analyzed by FEM method, and new structure model is produced by rapid prototype system to check external appearance. Study results showed that new origami structure has much better function than present one.
