Abstract
This work describes the studies performed using finite element analysis models regarding to the development of an automotive suspension inner joint forming and disassemble (pullout) processes using the software MSC.MARC.
The simulation performed involves plastic deformation and contact interaction of different parts in order to represent the steps of the assembly process and the inner joint pullout test. The results shown here were validated by confrontation with experimental data and then used to predict the structural behavior along the assembly process. The stress state after assembly and the required load to break down the inner joint (pullout force) had to satisfy specific design requirements.
