Abstract
This article describes the mechanism of generation of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in automobile systems and the standards / specifications to be met by automotive vehicles. Both emission and immunity are considered with reference to inter-system and intra-system interference. Different wave shapes of the transient interference signals and electrostatic discharge pulse are included. Present scenario in the country is also discussed.
