The effect of the additional blend of friction modifier into semi-used engine oil on the reduction of friction between cam and follower was examined with the cam follower friction test rig. Also, changes of the effect with the addition rate and the contaminated soot amount were examined by mixing the carbon black substituted for the engine soot. Key study results are summarized as follows. (1) Both the friction modifier blend and the increase of the addition rate are effective to reduce the friction. (2) The effect of the blended oil is hardly changed when mixed with the carbon black.
