Abstract
DME has been researched as the next-generation fuel for the
diesel engine. In the combustion process of DME, the mechanism of
chemical reaction is being elucidated by the numerical analysis
with computer technology. On the other hand, many of researches in
the DME engine are used in the DI compression ignition engine, and
engine performances were reported. However, the fuel supply system
of DME CI engine has not been established.
In this research, the IDI compression ignition engine with low
pressure injection was researched as a proposal of the fuel supply
system. As a result, the air availability was improved in the
prechamber which is the closed combustion space without being
influenced by the atomization characteristic. An excellent engine
performance and the exhaust gas characteristic were obtained in the
DME low pressure injection with using gasoline direct injection
technology.
