Abstract
Environmentally friendly technology using non-toxic biodegradable inert chemicals to kill pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms present on fruits and vegetables is presented. Conventional processes are potentially destructive of precious but delicate nutrients, protective antioxidants, vitamins present in food, and other health related issues, which may be harmful to astronauts.
