Abstract
Standard rollover crash tests with the 50% Hybrid III dummy were simulated with the software MADYMO. Sensor signals of the crash tests were used to prescribe the vehicle kinematics in the numerical simulation. The MADYMO human model was applied to those simulations and the human model kinematics were analysed.
The kinematics of a human occupant model in rollover crash will be presented and differences between the motion of a dummy and a human model will be analysed. On this basis various questions concerning the application and validation of human models in vehicle rollover will be discussed. The focus of future investigations aiming at the improvement of occupant model performance in rollover simulations will also be outlined.
