Abstract
Although destructive interference active noise and vibration control systems have been around in concept for years, compelling production implementations have been rare. This is often simply considered a result of the relatively high cost of an emerging technology. In actuality, active technology has yet to be fully valued because of the ways in which the particular value proposition differs from, or conflicts with, that of conventional control approaches. This paper describes one company's active product developments, efforts to educate a customer base on the unique capabilities of active control, and desire to establish a new value criterion for an industry.
