Abstract
Increasing driving comfort while reducing fuel consumption – these two are conflicting objectives in the general development process of a vehicle.
Integrated Powertrain Management (IPM®) and Dual Energy Supply (DES) are a contribution to solve this conflict by optimizing the interaction between internal-combustion engine, automatic transmission, electrical motor (e.g. Integrated Starter Generator or Side mounted Starter Generator) and energy storage.
This paper demonstrates the enhanced value of a mild hybrid vehicle featuring corresponding additional functions implemented in software by the example of an ISG – AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) drivetrain. This paper also gives an overview of a highly dynamic energy storage system.
The resulting fuel savings effect based on the IPM® and DES system is significant.
