Development of a Tire Pressure Monitor System for Motorcycles

A tire air pressure monitor system for motorcycles was developed. The system informs quickly a rider of air pressure shortage or air leak of tire. High monitoring accuracy was obtained by compensating temperature of air pressure by measuring of air pressure in tire, changes in pressure and temperature during running, and lowering of air pressure at flat tire. An air leak is judged by speed of the air leak converted from air pressure change and temperature change. The adjustment of the unbalanced revolution of wheels was minimized by mounting the separated tire valve and the sensor. Indication of the air pressure and alarm to a rider were for enhancing the recognition during running.
