Abstract
The appearance of new equipment and software for implementation of Virtual Reality environment are providing a lot of opportunities of applications in several industrial areas and services. One of the area more beneficiaries with the progress to wide steps of this new technology are the automotive engineering. This article aims to present a brief description of what is Virtual Reality, differentiating of other technologies as animation, CAD or multimedia and where this technology this being used today in the area of the automotive engineering. The text also exposes the justifications of using this new technology in that area, which the forms of using its and that it forms its can improve the quality, to reduce costs and to reduce the time of vehicle development. The text finishes with final considerations and adaptations regarding the theme, always adapting the information to the automobile industrial market.
