Abstract
Midé Technology Corporation, under the supervision of the U.S. Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, is developing fast hydraulic valve technologies for fuel injection systems. The proposed technology leverages a highly efficient gained smart materials device with an appropriate valve and injector design. By design, the proposed fuel injector concept will provide shaped fuel injection profiles based on the desired regime of operation: be it lean, for ultimate fuel efficiency; clean , for reduced emissions; or mean, for improved battlefield capability. This program is aimed at addressing the Army's 21st Century Vehicle programs by providing the means to achieve power dense, economic, and environmentally friendly diesel operation.
