Abstract
The proposed paper presents an efficient method for computing the noise radiation generated by car engines. Indeed the originality of the proposed BEM approach, relies on a most efficient time domain formalism. The most significant steps of the computation process are described (especially in a context of load/speed variation of the engine), on the basis of representative examples of engine operational conditions. Several of them have been analyzed using the proposed technique as described in this paper.
Finally the computational efficiency of the developed numerical tool is emphasized, so as to demonstrate that a quick and accurate evaluation of engine noise radiation characteristics is now possible relying on numerical tools from its early stage of design.
