Abstract
The gerotor orbit motor is the most popular hydraulic motor used in the mobile equipment industry, due to its combination of compact size, low manufacturing cost, and high torque capacity. In the past four decades, a number of designs have been disclosed in relative patents. However, many of them are not feasible for actual motor production, for which commercial success is a must. This research paper focuses on multi-objective optimization design of the gerotor motor. In this paper, the correlation between multiple performance attributes and structural design of the gerotor motor have been extensively investigated through a rational evaluation of design alternatives. Resulting from the investigation are constructive recommendations, made for a decision based engineering design of a motor. For example, a new gerotor motor has been developed, and it was proven by test results that the new motor has achieved its design targets using the proposed multi-objective optimization design method.
