Abstract
Different procedures leading to the minimization of piston related noise with Diesel engines will be introduced. Along with the method for subjective noise assessment a fast way for measurable quantification of piston noise will also be described. The influences of pin bore offset, piston profile and installation clearance on the noise excitation will be shown using calculation examples and measurement results.
