Abstract
Energy savings for all accessories without comfort losses are the focus of the research project "management of the accessory drive' initiated by the Forschungsvereinigung Verbrennungskraftmaschinen FVV in 1995. For the electrical system three basic strategies are regarded to decrease the share of consumption without reducing passenger comfort: Efficiency- optimized energy conversion has high demands against the components. Also possible are minimization of the electrical demand using system considerations and the energy conversion depending on the engine load. Both require the introduction of a complex management system. This article sums up some results of the research project.
