Abstract
Optimization of intake port design, combustion chamber configuration and intake valve lift has been done by both the measurement of in-cylinder gas flow using an optical engine and the analysis of in-cylinder pressure using an actual engine.
Good correlation between the estimation of combustion by the optical engine and the result of the combustion by the actual engine has been confirmed.
During the course of the improvement of the combustion by activating in-cylinder gas flow, the improvement of the fuel consumption has been also observed.
