Abstract
Rockwell Collins, Inc has developed an advanced Flight Management System (FMS) feature that is intended to enhance vertical situation awareness. This feature is a 3-dimensional (3D) flight path display that uniquely provides lateral, vertical and performance predicted flight plan information in a single, combined, 3D exocentric format and is presented on an electronic Multi-Function Display (MFD). The map data is a combination of information traditionally presented as two separate display formats -- a plan map and a 2D vertical profile display.
