Abstract
Infrastructure Development will play a vital role in successful recycling initiatives. Post-consumer initiatives need to be based, at least in part, on successful pre-consumer and post-industrial recycling strategies. The infrastructure that exists between automotive companies and their Tier 1 suppliers for instrument panel trim allows recycling which maintains polymer chemistry value, accomplishes conservation of resources and reduces use of limited and costly landfill resources. This recycling case study reviews the O'Sullivan Corporation program and offers an alternative model to consider in developing post-consumer recycling alternatives.
