Visual performance during night driving

Although night traffic represents 20% of all traffic, 47% of people are killed in car accidents that occur during the night. Decreased light impairs vision, and a driver loses 3 to 4 tenths of his vision during the night. The most relevant parameters that characterize vision during night driving are the average and low spatial frequencies and the contrast. This paper includes a series of slides with the test parameters.
