Northrop, Univ. of Minnesota-Twin Cities Giorgio Rizzoni, Ohio State University Selin Tur, FPT Motorenforschung AG There is an increasing interest in electrification of commercial vehicles, driven by stringent greenhouse gas and emission regulations, coupled with improving maturity in electrification technology. This panel aims to bring together industry experts, researchers and academics to discuss advancements and challenges related to electrification of commercial vehicle powertrains. Topics relevant to this panel may include novel e-motor based powertrain/drivetrain architectures, efficiency improvements in electric motors and power electronics, component sizing strategies, power management strategies, battery management systems, and cooling and thermal management and use of connectivity/autonomy features to improve the electrified powertrain operation.
