Designer and producer of advanced systems and components for the automotive industry, Magneti Marelli exhibits Smart Corner at NAIAS in Detroit, January 14-17, 2019. The technology integrates autonomous sensors into head lamps and tail lamps to provide automakers with functionality for autonomous driving.
Unveiled at CES 2019, Smart Corner can, according to a release from Magneti Marelli, accommodate any sensor, including LIDAR, radar, cameras, or ultrasonics, as well as advanced, LED-based lighting features like adaptive driving beam (ADB) and digital light processing (DLP).
Smart Corner provides a 360-degree view around the vehicle with redundancy, says the release. Because the sensors are integrated into existing headlamps and tail lamps, automakers can take advantage of a calibrated, plug-and-play solution to simplify manufacturing processes at lower cost and lighter weight than alternatives, stated to the release.
