As performance requirements for off-highway equipment become more demanding, the need for greater control of motion and power grows as well.
Because of the unique challenges endured by off-highway equipment, the parts used in their design fall under great scrutiny in terms of accuracy, reliability, and repeatability.
The options for controlling functions such as the movement of a crane, positioning of a bucket, or the precise alignment of a wheel require an exact position to be measured by a sensor. The sensor chosen, and the type of technology employed, can significantly impact the overall performance of the vehicle. The technologies used for position sensing in the laboratory or on the shop floor are not necessarily compatible with the harsh requirements of the vehicle in action.
