Significant changes to the Duratec 37 for the 2011 Mustang result in Camaro-beating power with 30-mpg efficiency.
Mustang vs. Camaro has been one of the industry's hottest rivalries ever since Chevrolet launched its original response to Ford's pony car. Forty-three years later they're still at it, but today's matchup is as much about fuel efficiency as it is power-with new V6 engines in the center of the action.
Last year GM set the stage by launching its all-new 2010 Camaro powered by a base 3.6-L DOHC direct-injected V6 rated at 304 hp (227 kW) and 273 lb·ft (370 N·m). Mated with the 6L50 six-speed automatic, the V6 enables Camaro to deliver estimated EPA city/highway fuel economy of 18/29 mpg, operating on regular fuel.
