- The Straight Pins (Solid) specified by SAE J495 are covered by the current American National Standard, ASME B18.82 which provides more complete specifications for these types of pins and is maintained continuously by ASME B18 Subcommittee 8. Since this SAE Standard has not been updated in the last 30 years, it has become outdated. It is counterproductive to have differing or conflicting American standards for the same products.
