- This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes minimum design and performance requirements for galley insert equipment with an electrical and/or pressure system, as well as associated components intended for installation in galleys and other areas (e.g., bars) of transport category airplanes.

- This standard is updated to (1) address, if appropriate, comments associated with TSO C184, (2) update RTCA publications to the latest standards, (3) clarify pass/fail criteria for environmental testing, (4) consolidate waste receptacle design and test requirements, (5) add performance requirements and associated verification tests for thermal protection devices, (6) clarify Interface Control Document requirements, and (7) provide other minor updates/clarifications.
