- The foundation specification (AMS1428) and the category specifications (AMS1428/1 and AMS1428/2) cover deicing/anti-icing materials in the form of a fluid.

- This document is revised to comply with SAE’s Five-Year Review policy. AMS1428J is replaced by AMS1428L. Since references are made to specific section numbers of AMS1428L, wording is added to allow the use of the corresponding section of future versions of AMS1428 when issued. Reference to ARP1917, which was canceled, is deleted. Harmonization editorial modifications are made throughout.
