Detection: Actions recommended when procuring parts from an unauthorized supplier or otherwise suspect that a part or material at risk of being counterfeit has been procured.

Rationale
Content
SAE (TechAmerica) GEIA-TB-0003 Counterfeit Parts & Materials Risk Mitigation was written as one of the first guidance documents for counterfeit electronic part avoidance and predates all NDAA requirements (2012, 2013, 2014) and the 2014 DFARS clause (252.246-7007) that has implemented all of those requirements. As such, TB-0003 is seriously out of date and requires either a major revision or cancelation. TB-0003 is only a Technical Bulletin for guidance only, and there already exists numerous compliance documents to take its place. Depending on the application SAE AS5553A and/or DID DI-MISC-81832 Counterfeit Prevention Plan, written by many of the same individuals as TB-0003, may be appropriate to addresses the issues.
