With the increasing use of electronic control units and sensors in automobiles, the need for detection of faulty components or malfunctioning elements is also increasing. This book covers both on- and off-board diagnostics (OBD) and their use in automobiles. Beginning with a brief history and general overview of diagnostics of automotive electronic control systems, the papers in this book include descriptions of basic diagnostic technologies as well as specific diagnostic systems for many types of electronic failures in automobiles.
