- This SAE Standard applies to new refrigerant used in motor vehicle passenger air-conditioning (A/C) systems designed to use HFC-134a.Hermetically sealed, refrigerated cargo systems are not covered by this document.

- The purpose of this SAE Standard is to establish the minimum level of purity required and container specifications for new HFC-134a refrigerant used in, mobile air-conditioning (A/C) systems. The refrigerant shall meet all the requirements as identified in ARI 700-2004 and all future ARI standards for HFC-134a.
