Scope
This specification covers miniature, composite, high density, threaded coupling, self-locking, circular, environment resistant, electrical connectors utilizing removable crimp contacts, and associated hardware, which are capable of continuous operation within a temperature range of −65 to +175 °C. These connectors are supplied under an AS9100 reliability assurance program. See 6.1 for intended use and applications.
Rationale
Revise to incorporate outstanding amendments, to incorporate the Qualifying Activity testing as required by SAE policy, to replace MIL-STD-790 requirements and MIL-STD-1344 test methods, to update references/document format with current SAE guidelines, and review specification for known technical issues.

Issuing Committee
SAE Subcommittee AE-8C1, Connectors, shall be associated with those activities directed by the parent SAE Aerospace Council and the SAE Aerospace Electronics and Electrical Distribution Systems Committee, for the development and application of electrical optical connector and associated hardware standards and specifications. SAE Subcommittee shall also serve the needs of the Navy, Army, and Air Force through the establishment and maintenance of User Advisory Committees.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
