This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) provides the minimum design and performance requirements for individual, inflatable life preservers, divided into six categories: “Adult,” “Adult-Child,” “Child,” “Infant-Small Child,” “Adult-Child-Infant-Small Child,” and “Demonstration.”
Rationale
ARP1354A has been revised as AS1354 at the request of the FAA. This Aerospace Standard was developed to update design and performance requirements for individual life preservers.

The SAE S-9A Safety Equipment and Survival Systems Committee develops air transport industry standards and recommended practices that address the design and/or performance of safety equipment and survival systems that enhance the safety and survivability of aircraft passengers and crew in emergency situations. The S-9A committee provides a forum for the exchange of information relating to aircraft safety equipment and survival systems. It identifies the needs and encourage research in the design, performance, and/or implementation of safety equipment and survival systems, including consideration of operational, human factors, and ergonomics issues. It also advises, consults and cooperates with industry, government, aviation organizations, other standardization bodies, and others on matters relating to aircraft safety equipment and survival systems.

Wild Cards
Using the asterisk, ( * ) allows you to search for a partial word. For example, entering a keyword search of aero* will search for any word beginning with aero.
Using the question mark, ( ? ) allows you to search for a word with a single character wildcard. For example, searching for t?re would match both tire and tyre
Using Quotes
Words in double quotes " " are treated as a phrase. Conducting a search for "heat model" will return all results in which the exact phrase "heat model" is found, while "heat modeling" would NOT be included.
A term combined with a phrase will be joined with an OR operator.
Searching for Standards
When searching for a standard please use the entire Document Number assigned, which includes the abbreviation. A space can be used, or omitted between the abbreviation and number.
